Why Your FLOCK is changing our focus onto creative and marketing agencies in Manchester.

At Your FLOCK the team engagement platform. We like to work together with people and different organisations. In fact, collaboration is one of our brand values. Not one of our core values – that our Your FLOCK profiles discover for individuals. But it is linked. As our top core value in Your FLOCK is caring.

We care a lot about the social impact of what we do. And the society in which we live. We like to give back. We like to be able to help different sectors. For a time, we were purely helping lawyers and those in the professional services. This has now extended into marketing and creative sectors.

A sector we have also worked with. And our partners have also worked with. But now it’s a sector we want to concentrate more on. And so you will see our marketing change over the next few months to show this.

Collaboration is also one of my personal key values. Which is why I have worked with organisations that try to help change different parts of the world of work for the better. Which is linked into the Your FLOCK mission to help a million people be happier at work.

Now all these companies are far too big for YourFLOCK the team engagement platform . But the fact they are nominated. And have happy marketing people working for them. Is testimony to their innovation and future facing ideas around teamwork and talent

BEST PLACE TO WORK.

This is a brand new award category. After 10 years of running the awards and on the 100th year of the organisation existing. They have a BEST place to work category. Which itself is damning. In a way. That it took this long. Which is why it is so interesting to read about the whole industry. And how Your FLOCK might do well to think about helping marketing and creative more. As

Behind the portrayal of glossy offices with ping pong tables and stocked up beer fridges, a number of Northern PR and marketing professionals dealing with anxiety, stress and burnout have painted a different picture.

For the marketing and creative industry, like many others. The biggest problem is a lack of time and effort from managers and leaders? By using Your FLOCK you can improve talent retention. By gathering and analysing data to flag any team members that might need your support. But only when you use it. It doesn’t do it. By itself. But we do make it very easy for managers to do.

Perhaps one day with AI it might be able to do it all for you. Maybe that’s the evolution of Your FLOCK itself. But right now – I would rather a human get involved. We can talk about when AI might be able to do this another day.

But it’s not just using Your FLOCK which will help your employee experience, employee engagement and employee retention. There are many different things you can do. Which is part of the inspiration behind this new blog piece with the MPA called:

We hope that some of these ideas can be an inspiration to managers reading this too. As 57% of employees leave their jobs because of their managers. And we should not be surprised by this as 90% of managers’ report they do not have enough time to engage their employees or prioritise their work effectively.

Which is scary when you think about it. Especially for those smaller businesses which Your FLOCK will be working with. Those from 5 to 50 people.

BUT WHY AIM FOR SMALL BUSINESS?

As small businesses are the lifeblood of the UK economy. Without them nothing would get done. Most people don’t realise that the UK private sector comprises largely non-employing businesses and small employers. SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) account for 99.9% of the business population (5.6 million businesses).

At the start of 2021: there were estimated to be 5.6 million UK private sector businesses. Some 1.4 million of these had employees and 4.2 million had no employees. Now Your FLOCK as a team engagement platform can’t work with single one person bands. But there were 5.548 million small businesses (with 0 to 49 employees) which is 99.2% of the total business population.

And did you know there were 35,600 medium-sized businesses (with 50 to 249 employees), 0.6% of the total business population. And a further 7,700 businesses were large businesses (with 250 or more employees), 0.1% of the total business population.

So when people tell us to go for BIG business. They are missing a BIG point.

Businesses from 5 to 50 people is a HUGE part of the our economy and so are the creative industries. So when people tell us to aim our focus somewhere else. They might need to think about a bit more CREATIVELY 😊
